Everything You Need To Live A Happy, Healthy Life Can Be Learned From Your Dog

by

As humans, why is it that we want to make things so damn complicated? Health and happiness are so readily available to us if we just get back to the basics and live with appreciation. Dogs have it all figured out! Maybe we should take some time to learn a thing or two from man’s best friend…

Get Into A Rhythm

Our furry friends naturally adhere to their circadian rhythm. They wake, eat, poop, play and sleep on the same schedule everyday. So should we! Circadian rhythms can influence sleep-wake cycles, hormone release, eating habits and digestion, body temperature, and other important bodily functions.

Take A Walk

Be anxious and excited about the simple act of going for a daily walk. Walking is overlooked as an extremely beneficial source of health, both mental and physical.

Get Adequate Sleep

Dogs have this one nailed! With proper exercise, they sleep through the night and frequently partake in a power nap mid-afternoon. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times will support your mental health, physical health, and quality of life. Not to mention, if you want to lose weight, it cannot happen unless you sleep!

Listen To Your Gut and Be Intentional

Dogs always listen to their gut instincts and stay keenly aware of what’s going on around them. Pay attention to what your instincts are telling you. Slow down, be intentional with your life rather than simply going through the motions.

Find Love and Cherish It

Appreciate the love you have in your life and never take it for granted.

Be Loyal

Enough said.

Dance

Moving your body makes your spirit soar! Dance, listen to music, have fun and enjoy every bit of life!

Be A Good Friend

Make time to have fun with your friends!

Get Some Sunshine

Discussions about health benefits from sun exposure typically center around vitamin D, but properly timed UVB exposure has a number of other health effects unrelated to vitamin D production, including enhancement of mood and energy, melatonin regulation, protection against melanoma, suppression of pain, and the treatment of skin diseases.

Cuddle Up

Skin to skin touch can do wonders for your mental health! In recent years, a wave of studies has documented some incredible emotional and physical health benefits that come from touch. Skin to skin touch is truly fundamental to human communication, bonding, and health.

Just Relax

Managing stress is a critical component to overall health and longevity. Meditate, pray, find some quiet time to yourself each day and practice letting things go!

Accept Others Who Are Different Than You

Just think how much peace we could generate in the world if we just accepted others who are different than ourselves. Stop judging others and embrace our differences.

Ask For Help When You Need It

There is no shame in seeking out help when you need it. In fact, the only way to overcome obstacles is to set your ego aside and accept the help of others.

Embrace New Experiences

Travel, explore the world and be open to new experiences. Getting outside of your comfort zone will lead you to new levels of personal growth and happiness!

Find A Mentor

Having the guidance, encouragement and support of a trusted and experienced mentor can provide you with a broad range of personal and professional benefits. The advantages of mentoring extend to all involved, helping teachers become masters at their trade and allowing mentees to learn invaluable lessons from those more experienced individuals.

Never Let Age Slow You Down

Dogs know how to live each day they are given. Their lives are short, but so are ours!

Life is too short to make it so damn complicated. Create health and happiness. Stop taking things for granted and just be HAPPY!
